The gold standard of painting and paint mediums would be Golden (Golden professional products ), Winsor & Newton (Winsor and Newton professional products ), or Liquitex (Liquitex professional products ).

Right now I'm on a budget and neither Arteza nor Liquitex Basics ever let me down for being versatile, affordable acrylic brands. The Winsor & Newton "Cotman" line is a good quality student-grade watercolor medium. My current faves:
