Tiny art: Confetti Chonky Cat

Introducing Confetti Chonky Cat, a one-of-a-kind tiny mixed media art piece custom-made with acrylic, recycled polymer clay, and ink on stretched cotton canvas.

Confetti Chonky Cat was created from the recycled drillings from polymer earrings embedded into pearlescent clay on a polka-dotted springy, lime green background.

As a way to minimize waste, I'm always looking for ways to recycle and use up all the bits and pieces of supplies and ephemera that accumulate in the creation process.

When holes are drilled into polymer clay, it creates tiny corkscrew bits of cured clay.

The corkscrew bits reminded me of confetti…. Confetti made me think of a party, fun, and joy.... so of course she had to have a fun, energetic background.

Place her where she can give you a little boost of energy and remind you that even the tiniest castoffs have use. Plus, you see her little shaking booty? Maybe she can remind you to shake your groove thing once in a while!

Canvas Preparation

All of my acrylic paintings are painted on a cotton canvas that is secured to a wooden stretcher frame for support. The canvas normally has one or more preparation layers applied to its surface before the various paint & mixed media layers are applied. After the painting has been completed, two layers of varnish are applied to protect the painting from the accumulation of dust and dirt.
